Welsh Championship

Determines the National Champion to attend the IKF Europa Cup!

The Welsh Championship is the biggest korfball competition in Wales.

The Championship is contested by all teams in Wales. The competition is seeded using final placings from the Welsh National League and Western Regional League. The Welsh Cup is the highest tier with the winner going on to represent Wales at the IKF Europa Cup. Trophy is the middle tier and plate the final tier open to all teams.

The Welsh Cup was first organised as a gala event open to only one team from each club. This ran from 2008-14 until it was scrapped in favour of using league standings to determine the national champion. This format encountered difficulties as teams compete in different leagues; so, the Welsh Championship was reintroduced, with the addition of the Trophy and Plate tiers, to allow all teams in Wales to compete.
